The problem and its relevance

In the city of Pakruojis, as in many smaller Lithuanian municipalities, the problems of social exclusion, insufficient social inclusion, weak community ties and limited accessibility of socio-cultural services remain relevant. They most affect socially vulnerable groups of the population – the elderly, people with disabilities, low-income residents, single people and large families.

Residents still lack opportunities to actively engage in community life, participate in activities that meet their needs, and strengthen relationships and mutual assistance. Strengthening residents’ preparedness for emergency situations is also relevant – some residents lack practical knowledge and skills on how to behave appropriately during crises or other extreme events.

Taking into account these challenges, the project includes socio-cultural, community and health activities aimed at increasing social inclusion, strengthening community spirit, developing mutual aid and emergency preparedness skills, and improving the accessibility and quality of services provided to residents.

Project objective

To increase the inclusion of socially excluded people, including children, youth and adults, into the Pakruojis city community by providing innovative and necessary social, health and therapeutic services. The project activities aim to promote the creation of positive social relationships, strengthen mutual assistance, develop personal, social and life skills, improve physical, psychological and emotional health, and increase the healthy lifestyle and physical activity of the population.

Project target group

  • Members of large families
  • Indigent individuals and families (who are provided with monetary social assistance in accordance with the Law of the Republic of Lithuania on Monetary Social Assistance to Indigent Residents),
  • Children at social risk and their parents,
  • Existing and former children’s social care homes,
  • Pupils of community children’s homes, special boarding schools, and families,
  •

The following activities are planned during the implementation of the project:

  • Socializing sports activities for children
  • Ethnic culture camp for children and seniors “Living Heritage”;
  • Open street dance workshops for the community “Street Move Pakruojis”;
  • 5-day youth camp “Rhythm, Movement and Fellowship”;
  • Social skills development and temporary respite prevention camps for families at social risk
  • Comprehensive mindfulness classes
  • Emotion management through art therapy classes
  • Adapted motivational education for children

Expected results

The project is expected to increase the social inclusion of the residents of Pakruojis district, strengthen community ties, improve the availability and quality of services, and develop the residents’ abilities to respond appropriately in emergency situations. The project activities will also contribute to strengthening physical and emotional well-being, promoting volunteerism, developing intergenerational cooperation, and increasing meaningful leisure activities. It is planned that by the end of the project, at least 90 unique individuals will participate in various activities, and some of them will be involved in the project activities more than once.
